Captions (2 sentences)
1st sentence: present tense, who, what, when,where, etc.
2nd sentence: past tense, background info (last sentence)

This neighborhood in Mexico has been flooded due to extreme heavy rainfall. Over 20,000 people were stuck on their roof waiting to be helped.

1. Rule of thirds: where the main subject of the photo is not in the middle, it is off to the side. 
2. Balancing Elements: every thing in the photo is not chaotic and you can tell everything is clear
3. Leading Lines: lines in the photo lead to something big in the picture
4. Symmetry and Patterns (repetition): objects in the photo create shapes or things in the background create really cool patterns for the photo
5. Viewpoint: the way the picture is taken and how the view looks
6. Background: the background is supposed to contrast with the main subject in the picture
7. Create depth:
8. Framing: make picture look like it has been taken with a frame
9. Cropping: cutting out unimportant objects within the photo but still making the photo look ethical
10. Mergers and avoiding them: mergers are similar to thinks that are in the photo but look like they could be coming out of someone's body and you want to avoid them by not  making objects look like they are coming out of someone's body. 

Shutter Speed- a time for which a shutter is open (google definition)
ISO- ISO measures the sensitivity an image has to light. low iso= low sensitivity and fine grain photos. high iso= high sensitivity, usually taken in the dark and have high shutter speed.
Aperture- the size in which the camera lens is open and how much light is let in. measured in F-Stop.

Acceptable in photo shop: whitening of teeth, replacing objects to look better, and any small minor touches in the photos.
Unacceptable in photo shop: cropping someone else's body on top of yours, making two people be put together in a photo that weren't actually together.

5. You will need to be able to explain the three types of portraits you read about – Environmental, Self and Casual (remember the difference between formal and informal).
E-Where the subject is in their normal/ typical environment (work, home, garden, etc.)
S- a representation of an "artist" that was photographed by the artist
C-Pictures taken of casual things that interest a photographer
F-Carefully arranged picture
I-candid picture, no "real" purpose behind it

6. You will need to be able to explain the photographic terms: Exposure, Depth of Field, and Focal Length. Look those words up again..
E-the amount of lighting in an area of an image/ video
DOF-the distance between the closest object and the farthest object in an image which come out sharp in the picture
FL-distance between the lens and the image sensor when the subject is focused

7. You will need to know the four types of magazine covers: Early, Poster, Married to Type and Forest of Words and how to tell the difference.
Early-graphics/designs/ black and white
Poster:graphic designs, charts
Married to Type: words all over the cover, but don't hide the main subject
Forest:tons and tons of words all over
