My First Interview for Student of the Month

1. What is your name? My name is Kaitlyn Smith.
2. What grade are you in? I am in 11th grade.
3. Why do you think YOU were chosen to be student of the month? I think I was chosen to be student of the month because I have really helped out the school community along with many others and because I am a really good student.  
4. Are your friends excited that you got student of the month? I would assume so, my friends found out that I was student of the month before I did and they seemed pretty excited. 
5. Is becoming student of the month hard? I don't think becoming student of the month is hard, all I did was help out others, maintain good grades, and become friends with just about everyone. 
6. What are some of the things you did to become student of the month? In order to become the student of the month, as far as I know there aren't many major requirements. What I did was just help out around the school community and make sure to be nice to everyone, participate in class, and keep up my grades. 
7. Do people recognize you now that you are student of the month? Every now and then I get people coming up to me and saying "Congratulations!" but that's about it. I'm not receiving any special attention or anything. 
8. Is being the student of the month stressful? Being student of the month is not stressful at all! 
9. Do you like school better now that you are student of the month? I personally have always liked school so becoming student of the month was a big deal for me. I can say that school just got even better!
10. How do you feel about being the student of the month? I feel really happy and I'm really excited about getting the opportunity to be student of the month.  
11. What is some advice you would give to future student of the months? Future students who become student of the month, make sure to keep taking care of the school community and being nice to others!
12. What was your reaction when you found out you became student of the month? My friends came running up to me and yelled "Kaitlyn, you're student of the month!!" and my reaction was priceless. I was really happy and I couldn't wait to find out what great things I could accomplish with the new title I had. 
13. Is becoming Student of the Month a big accomplishment for you? Oh yes! Becoming student of the month is really big for me. 
14. What are some of your motivations to work hard in school? To work hard and do well in school, I make sure to work hard and pay attention in my classes. I also make sure to do my homework and get a good nights rest. 
15. How have you changed as a person now knowing that you are student of the month? I have been happier knowing that I am student of the month, but that's pretty much all that's changed. 
16. Do you get special treatment now that you are student of the month? Nope. I don't receive any special treatment.
17. When did you find out that you became student of the month? I found out that I was student of the month when all my friends came up to me screaming that I was the new student of the month. 
18. How hard was the process of becoming student of the month? The process of becoming student of the month was not hard at all. 
19. Do you think people are jealous of you because you are student of the month? I would certainly hope that people would not be jealous of me being the student of the month. To others I don't they even care about the student of the month, so I don't think there could possibly be anyone who would be jealous. 
20. What is your least favorite thing about being Student of the month? My least favorite thing about being student of the month is when people constantly come up to me and ask "Are you the student of the month?" It makes me feel like I'm some celebrity, which I am no where near being or becoming one.

A. What is the most powerful image from the pictures printed in the Denver Post over the three weeks they published images from the year of coverage? Why? I think the most powerful image was the picture on 22A because it is a picture of Ian Fisher sitting all alone looking down thinking about how this is going to be the rest of his life. The picture is just really moving because the way I interpret it sends me a strong message. B. How do the images work together to tell a story? School Uniforms For this topic I could possibly interview a member of the board who decided to enforce the uniforms, I could interview the principal that works at the school where the uniforms are being enforced, and I could interview a staff member/ high ranked teachers that works at the school where the uniforms are being put into place.
