Story Paragraphs

Two weeks ago, Kaitlyn Smith was selected to be the new student of the month at Bowie High School by the faculty and staff. Smith was presented to be the school's student of the month by the principal hanging up a poster with Smith's name and picture after 2nd period on the last day of every month. Smith was chosen because she really helps out around the school, she is nice to everyone, participates in class, and she maintains good grades.

"Becoming student of the month is a really big deal for me and I can't wait to see what this opportunity will hold," Smith excitedly said.

Smith is always one who takes one for the team and makes sure that everyone is doing good.

Becoming student of the month is a big deal because students can put this in their college applications and that helps better the chances of getting scholarships and getting accepted into college. The selection of becoming student of the month is very competitive because only about 9 students get chosen to be the student of the month and in order to be chosen as student of the month requires a student to be well-known, help out the school community, and get good grades.

Smith has many friends who are delighted about her being the student of the month. "Kaitlyn is constantly preforming well in all her classes and I'm glad to see that she is getting recognition for it," says one of Smith's friend, Ashley Wood.

There are so many students who will qualify to be the student of the month but only few will actually make the cut. "Ms. Smith is a very well educated and kind young lady. She knows what she wants and she'll achieve many great things in her future. She is so deserving of the student of the month title and I'm very proud of her," principal of Bowie Susan Leos exclaimed.

"There are so many students who are dedicated to helping out with their school and Ms.Smith is one of those students and I'm amazed by how hard she works to help make Bowie better," Bowie 9th grade counselor Laura Loza said. Loza has always wanted to see people so dedicated to helping out their school and now she is really happy to finally see someone.

"Kaitlyn is always participating in class and always bringing a smile to people's faces. Kaitlyn thinks outside the box and comes up with the best ideas to help out anyone," English teacher Amie Roggeman said. Roggeman thinks that Kaitlyn winning the student of the month award is such an amazing thing for Smith to have accomplished.

In the end, all of the faculty and staff who nominated Smith to be student of the month came to the agreement that Smith ended up being a really good student for the student of the month award. Smith treats her school community like her family, participates a lot in class, and keeps her grades up. For future students who want to become the student of the month should aim to do the things Smith does.
